A Little About Us...
Tulakadik is a Mi’kmaq word for ‘camping ground’. For over 50 years, Camp Tulakadik has been a camp ground where people experience the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. It all started in 1961 when a search committee found a large piece of lake-front farm land in the middle of rural New Brunswick.
A few months later, Camp Tulakadik was born. Four hundred acres, one hundred which were cleared; a two-storey farmhouse; two large barns; several other buildings; and 1,600 feet of private shore frontage on Cassidy Lake. Since the beginning it has been “a place where people experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ, hear the call of His Gospel, and have an opportunity to deepen their obedience to Him in all areas of their life.”
The first camp wasn’t very comfortable — 10 big army tents were rented from CFB Gagetown — but it was scenic. Camp Tulakadik’s exquisite surroundings on the shores of beautiful Cassidy Lake provide a wonderful atmosphere for campers of all ages.
Our goal is to help each camper improve socially, physically, mentally and spiritually and this goal is incorporated into every aspect of camp life. We tailor our specially designed programs according to age, size and physical attributes so that all campers can learn new skills, gain self-confidence and enjoy their camping experience.
We provide summer and winter camps of our own and we are available for rent to most groups.
Camp Tulakadik is owned and operated by the Saint John – Kings Association of Baptist Churches and is affiliated with Christian Camping International.
As soon as you turn into the Camp, you will notice that things are a little different now. While the woods and the lake have stayed the same, we have moved ahead with the building projects. Since then, a dining hall has been erected, while local Christian churches have financed and built cabins for the campers.
But the facilities are not the only way we have grown. Our trained staff and cabin leaders put the needs of campers and others ahead of their own, so you can be sure that your children will have the best time possible in a safe, fun and caring environment.
When they return home after a visit at Camp Tulakadik, you’ll hear about the new friends they have made, the old friends they have found again, and also about how they have grown closer to God.
